Southbound U.S. 89 Restrictions through August 6:

• Daytime, from 9:00am to 3:00pm: Southbound U.S. 89 will be restricted to one lane weekdays through August 6. Motorists should expect alternating left or right lane closures.
• Nighttime, from 10:00 pm to 5:00am: Southbound U.S. 89 will be reduced to one lane on Saturday, July 31 from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Motorists should expect alternating left or right lane closures.
• On-Ramp Closure: The on-ramp from U.S. 89 in North Salt Lake to southbound I-15 will be closed on August 9 from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
• Southbound U.S. 89 Closure: Southbound U.S. 89 and the off-ramp from southbound I-15 to U.S.89/Beck Street (exit 312) will be closed from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am nightly August 9-11 between the U.S. 89 Bridge in North Salt Lake and Beck Street. Motorists on Southbound I-15 should use I-215 West or 600 North as alternate routes.
  • The on-ramp from U.S. 89 to southbound I-15 will be closed at night August 9 but will remain open during the other closures August 10 & 11.

These restrictions will allow asphalt removal, repaving, and striping along the bridge, ramps and roadway.

Traffic Switch to Final Configuration, early August:

Beginning at 9:00pm Monday, August 2, Northbound I-15 will be restricted to one lane at night while crews shift traffic to the newly constructed northbound side.  Northbound I-15 will reopen with three lanes open in the northbound direction by 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 3.  

• The northbound 1000 North on-ramp to I-15 and the northbound 2300 North on and off-ramps are expected to reopen with the traffic shift on August 3.  

Beginning at 9:00 p.m, on Saturday, August 7, Southbound I-15 will be restricted to one lane while crews shift traffic to the newly constructed southbound side. Southbound I-15 will reopen on August 8 at 7 a.m., with three inside lanes (including the HOV lane) open to traffic. The southbound HOV lane will remain open to all traffic while the right lane will be closed while shoulder and other finishing work continues through August 14. 

• The southbound ramps at 2300 North, 1000 North, and 600 North will close during this traffic shift.
• The northbound HOV lane and southbound right lane will remain closed for barrier removal, shoulder work and restriping through August 14.

Warm Springs Road, August 3-8: Refinishing and realignment of Warm Springs Road under the Beck Street Bridge will occur during the day from approximately August 3-8. Flaggers will be in place and Warm Springs Road will be restricted to one lane while asphalt removal, material placement, and repaving occur. Flaggers will be present to control traffic in the area beginning July 30 through mid-August.

2300 North Ramps Closures: The 2300 North on and off-ramps are scheduled to close for the weekends of August 21 and 28. The ramps will be closed from Saturday morning until late Sunday evening. One set of ramps (in one direction) will be closed each weekend, but neither the dates or order are yet confirmed.

Bridges at Beck Street, US-89, 1000 North and 800 North will also be replaced. The bridges at 800 and 1000 North will be replaced by one bridge at 1000 North.

UDOT will fast-track construction:

EXPRESSLink will use a Design-Build (DB) Construction method that overlaps the two processes typically done in sequence. DB saves money and cuts overall construction time nearly in half.

Project Substantial Completion in Mid-August: The I-15 EXPRESSLink Project Team is pleased to announce the project will reach substantial completion in mid-August, about 2 months ahead of schedule.
